Where are the classes held?

All DNAAdoption.org courses are held online. You can log in from any internet location. It is recommended that you use a computer that contains your DNA matches. We suggest that you use Microsoft Excel although other spreadsheet programs are fine. The instructions will be for Excel and Google Drive Sheets. You may have to Google how to handle it in your spreadsheet.

Do I need to sign up for each week or just one session?

Each session contains 2-4 weeks of coursework. There will be an additional six weeks for students to complete the coursework. There is no need to sign up for more than one class of the same type.

What happens if I can't make a class?

The answer varies by the class in which you are enrolled.

Applied Autosomal DNA 201 — Each session contains four weeks of coursework. There will be an additional six weeks for students to complete the coursework (a total of 10 weeks).

Y-DNA – This is a 3 week course and the course will be open for a total of 6 weeks. The last 3 weeks are to allow for anyone that missed a class to catch up and ask additional questions.

Intro to DNA 101 – This is a 2 week course and the course will be open for a total of 6 weeks. The last 4 weeks are to allow for anyone that missed a class to catch up and ask additional questions.

Can I work through all the course material of lessons in one week if I want?

A new lesson is released each week for you to work at your pace. There are teachers/assistants that are available during the week to answer any questions. There is a lot of work involved in each lesson.

Is there a set time I have to be at my computer for class?

No, classes are released on Fridays, you can work on them at your own pace. The forum is always open for questions and someone will answer them as soon as possible. We usually have students on other continents so someone is usually logging in at all hours.

Where do I create an account to enroll and login to the course?
I just enrolled and I can't see any class material. My class starts in next month/week.

Once you are enrolled in a class, you will receive a reminder email a week or few days before the class starts with additional instructions.

The classwork/assignments will appear once the class officially begins. Each week after the first week (for multi week courses), new assignments will appear on Friday. Until then, you can view  information at www.dnaadoption.org including our free First Look classes.

I'm trying to enroll but the class I chose says no self-registration

Any class with the PayPal “P” to the right, just above the class name, can be self-registered. If there is no option to enroll, that means the class is full and no more registrations will be accepted unless there is a cancellation. Our classes often fill very fast so it is best to register early.

I would like to re-take a class I have already participated in previously?

Former participants are allowed to re-take the same class a second time for free. You must have been enrolled in a previous course within the past year. Submit a request to DNAAdoptionHelp@gmail.com for availability and instructions.

Do you accept any other form of payment besides PayPal?

Our preferred method of payment is PayPal. If you cannot pay via PayPal, please submit a request here to make other arraignments.
